Lingvis LIVE

Through funding provided by Swedish innovation authority Vinnova, the LingvisPlay format is further developed to support integration into new sectors of society in the project Språkbryggan. One of the new functionalities developed is Lingvis LIVE, providing real-time language learning support to spoken language.

Lingvis Finland ry

The association Lingvis Finland ry is founded, in order to support partners and users of the LingvisPlay format in Finland.

UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning

The LingvisPlay format is recognized by UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning in its review of innovative technology in literacy and education for refugees.

Conferences

Funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, and co-hosted by UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning, Språkkraft organizes two conferences on the topic of media and informal language learning, one in Copenhagen and one in Oslo. The LingvisPlay format is one of several solutions highlighted.

Norwegian, Danish, and Icelandic languages

The LingvisPlay format is adapted to support the Norwegian, Danish, and Icelandic languages and prototypes are developed in order to conduct user testing with content from public service broadcasters NRK, DR, and RÚV.

Local adaptation

Swedish municipality Järfälla signs a partnership for local adaptation of the LingvisPlay format, to support language learning based on local news and information, as well as incorporating media-integrated language learning in local integration initiatives and activities.

Integrating LingvisPlay in third-party platforms

Swedish innovation authority Vinnova approves the application for funding for the Språkbryggan project, led by Språkkraft, and including 19 different partners from various sectors of Swedish society. In the project, the LingvisPlay format is further developed to support integration into new sectors of society, through the development of new functionalities, and the creation of an SDK for integrating LingvisPlay in third-party platforms.

Swedish for beginners

Funded by Länsstyrelsen i Stockholms län in a project for early activities for asylum seekers, Språkkraft develops the SpråkSTART module for the Reading Coach app intended for learners who are absolute beginners.

LingvisPlay in Switzerland

The association Lingvis Schweiz is founded, in order to further develop the opportunities for using the LingvisPlay format in Switzerland.

Collaboration with Yle

Finland's public service broadcaster Yle launches the two services Yle Kielikoulu and Yle Språkskolan, using the LingvisPlay format.

Erasmus+ program

Språkkraft participates in the Erasmus+ program TOMes, exchanging ideas and best practices with organizations from Spain, Greece, and Belgium working with support activities for migrants.

Developing and testing

A LingvisPlay prototype supporting learning of the German, French, Italian, and Romansh languages is developed and tested for Swiss public service broadcaster SRG SSR.

Users

The LingvisPlay format reaches a total of xxxx users.

Prix Europa Awards

Språkkraft and SVT are awarded the Prix Europa for best online project in European public service broadcasting for the app SVT Språkplay.

Partnership with SVT

Språkkraft forms a partnership with Sweden’s public service television broadcaster SVT to offer learning based on TV-programs in Swedish in the app SVT Språkplay, using the LingvisPlay format.

What we do

Lingvis supports the integration of migrants, by providing digital tools for language learning based on the LingvisPlay format for media-integrated language learning. All Lingvis apps are free for the user, with funding provided through donations, project financing and partnerships

How we work?

Lingvis Foundation cooperates with sister organizations in each country where the LingvisPlay format is in use, in order to support users and partners in that country.

How to become a partner?

Lingvis primarily partners with media providers, such as public service television in order to leverage on the media content, and provide opportunities for language learning. For more information about partnering with Lingvis Foundation, please send us an e-mail on contact@lingvis.org.

How to use our apps

Lingvis apps are available for free in Google Play for Android and in the App Store for iOS. The apps allow access to current media content in the target language, with language support to multiple languages. Exercises are created automatically, and an individual learning profile is consistently updated. The use of green, yellow and red colors to mark up words based on level of difficulty and individual learning provides enhanced learning support.
